In-N-Out Burger: Reviewed

You've only heard about it in "The Big Lebowski", and probably thought is was some lame made-up burger joint. Well, my bitches, it is very real, and it is very addictive. First, a little background.

In-N-Out was established in 1948 in Baldwin Park, California as the state's first drive-thru hamburger stand. The company stands for superior quality and freshness of their food products. Since it's founding, very little has changed. There are no microwaves or freezers in the restaurants. Everything is made fresh to order. The fries are made from real potatoes, shakes made from real ice cream, and burgers from real cows.

That being said, the food is just as greasy and unhealthy as any other fast food chain. I would compare the burgers to McDonalds', except not cooked in a drawer, and the meat isn't fake. The cheese they use is runny and gooey and delicious. The fries are comparable to those from Steak-N-Shake, only they cost a lot less and aren't full of preservatives and chemicals.

Other than that, there's really nothing else on the menu. And that's not a bad thing, because it's what they do best and have been doing for over 50 years. If you want a burger and fries, this is the place to go. If you want a salad, low-carb quasidilla, or some other speciality fad in fast food, save your money and get a personal trainer, fatso.

In and Out burgers are the best! (I've never had one, but if the Dude abides, then so do I)

They don't have White Castle out there, do they?

No, there are no white assholes in LA. In-N-Out is pretty much the White Castle of the west coast. However, you can buy the frozen White Castle burgers in some of the grocery stores.

People out here think of White Castle as a myth. If you ask someone if there's a White Castle around, they look confused, then ask you if you've actually been to one, then treat you like a god.

If I were forced to compare the two, I would definately have to choose In-N-Out. The Castle tries too hard with alternative menu choices. Castle should stick to the crappy little belly-bombers. I like them, but In-N-Out is in a totally different league.
